Scope and Contents
These include daily observations; observations made with the transit instrument; observations on the dip of the magnetic needle; observations for the variation of the compass by means of a meridian mark; observations for determining the error of the line of collimation of the quadrant; observations for the going of the clock; and observations for the latitude.
The observations end with a detailed entry determining the difference of latitude and meridian of his observatory and the place ‘where the Abbe De La Caille observed’ [Nicolas Louis de Lacaille]. Accompanied by a related chart.
