Scope and Contents
Handwritten draft of an article by David V. Thomas titled, ‘The latitude and longitude of the Cape Observatory’ (15 pp), with associated notes and a research file on astronomical observations carried out by Trigsurvey at Mowbray and Buffelsfontein.
The research file contains three letters to Thomas from the Director of Trigsurvey Mowbray, South Africa (Nov.-Dec. 1965) enclosing copies of a research article, summarised data, and a general plan showing all geodetic and primary stations established 1880-1954 at which astronomical observations were made.
The article by Thomas was published in ‘Monthly Notes of the Astron. Soc. Southern Africa’, Vol. 24, pp 147-156a.
