Conditions Governing Access
The University Archives are generally freely available to the holder of a reader's ticket for the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library, West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DR. Restrictions on access are imposed on certain categories of sensitive record: financial, governmental and personal, by order of the originating body or under data protection legislation. The normal order of the files seems to have been: 1) bonds 2) cause papers such as articles, libels, interrogatories, responsa, exceptions, taxed costs, bills and bonds, and administrative documents such as decrees, licences, draft letters, memoranda about building work, narratives of college disputes, etc 3) proxies 4) registers of privileges, presentments for flesh-eating and unlicensed brewing.
