14/3. 'MS Notes and Memoranda for General History of Double Stars', including a letter to Herschel from G.B. Airy, 25 July 1840; an invitation from J. Lee to visit Hartwell House; a letter to Herschel from R. Main, 28 November 1868; and a letter to Herschel from J.R. Hind, 23 June 1854.

14/4.1. A letter from A.S. Herschel to W. Lassell, President of the Royal Astronomical Society, 6 June 1871, with an accompanying list of 'Contents of the Box of Papers; MS of a General Catalogue and General History of Double Stars', and copies of some of the papers found in 14/3.
14/4.2. A letter from W. Huggins to R. Main, 13 June 1871, and a report on Herschel's papers by Main and Pritchard, 8 November 1871.

15/1. Early astronomical exercises, including material in William Herschel's hand.
15/2. A receipt from the Astronomical Society for Herschel's composition fee, signed by W. Pearson, 7 February 1825.
15/3.1. 'Notata Biographica': biographical notes by Herschel, 1783-1829.
15/3.2. 'Notata Biographica': items running from the back of the original notebook, comprising a list of payments and receipts for the period 20 October 1838 - 15 January 1840. The handwriting is not that of John Herschel.
15/4. Miscellaneous expenses and biographical notes.
15/5. Two letters to Herschel from Royal Astronomical Society Secretaries: C. Pritchard, 20 January 1864, and R. Hodgson, 18 December 1866.
15/6. Notes and calculations regarding meteorites, December 1866, includes a letter to Herschel from R. Hunt, 5 June 1845.
15/7. Copies of Herschel's 1839 photograph of the superstructure of the 40ft telescope (taken from lantern slides).
15/8. A copy of J.E. Bode, 'Uranographia' (Berlin, 1801), including pencil annotations by Herschel.
