Log entries for 1773, 1773-01-01 - 1773-12-31
Scope and Contents
The log entries for 1773 were kept by Bayly on a more or less daily basis, with no entries provided between 8 April and 7 June when the ship was in New Zealand. Among his observations, Bayly sometimes includes readings of the ship's speed by the log line and half-minute glass. The two ships crossed the Antarctic Circle on 17 January, and Bayly records the event in a brief entry [RGO 14/56: 43r]. Other notable entries include those for 8 February and 30 October, recording the Adventure's first and second separation from the Resolution [RGO 14/56: 48v-49r and RGO 14/56: 93v].
