Scope and Contents
Contents of a file so titled. Letters from the public requesting further information on unidentified flying objects they witnessed. Most concern sightings of likely fireballs and meteors. The file includes colour drawings by children, sketches of the path of observed flying objects, two news cuttings, and a report enclosing five black and white photographs (1973).
A letter of 18 September 1970 by Alan Hunter to J.J.A. Hennessey of ‘The Diplomat’ explains that records were kept and explanations offered ‘only if they concern novae, comets, bright meteors or the like. Other sightings reported verbally are not recorded, and written reports are not preserved.’
Consecutive numbering is the archivists.
