Survey of Athenian buildings, 1868
Scope and Contents
Observations and results of a survey of the Parthenon and associated buildings in Athens, containing notes on the state of the buildings and on the size of parts and components, with several sketches of parts. The survey appears to have been written as a report on restoration work that was being undertaken and to have been carried out to prove that later buildings were modelled on those which preceded them. The folder also contains short essays on various topics, including refraction, instruments, the measurement of heights, the constitution and physical parameters of the atmosphere, and parabolic orbits.
