An undated photostat of a letter from Nevil Maskelyne to Sir Joseph Banks, 9 May 1803, informing him that an instrument being made by Brinkley is not yet complete and that he has been told by Joseph de Lalande that Mechain has set out to make observations on the island of Majorca.
