Letter to Sir Joseph Banks
Scope and Contents
An undated photostat of a letter from Nevil Maskelyne to Sir Joseph Banks, 1 May 1801, regarding communications he has received from several other astronomers. Maskelyne states that Joseph de Lalande is working on his 'Bibliographie Astronomique' and has completed his 'Histoire Celeste', and that Jean Delambre is to calculate his tables of the Sun again. Maskelyne also mentions that he has received a letter from Giuseppe Piazzi and praises the work he has been doing on verifying the positions of the stars in Wolleston's Catalogue.
