Scope and Contents
Miscellaneous correspondence with the Hydrographer of the Navy:
Correspondence with the Hydrographer, 1933-1937, including reports on the introduction of the 'Air Almanac', estimates of staffing and work needed, correspondence on a new clerical assistant and the rental of a calculating machine for outside workers.
A Hydrographic Office file entitled 'Nautical Almanac Office History 1902-1930' (the file includes information beyond 1930).
Correspondence between the Nautical Almanac Office and the Admiralty and between the Admiralty and His Majesty's Stationery Office, 1902, regarding errors found in the 'Nautical Almanac' for 1902.
Correspondence with the Secretary of the Admiralty, 1923-1926, including a listing of the establishment of the Nautical Almanac Office; correspondence regarding accommodation provided at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich; and letters on the approval given to extensive changes to the Nautical Almanac Office owing largely to L.J. Comrie's initiative.
Official correspondence with the Secretary of the Admiralty, 1928-1934. There are letters regarding proposals for a Hollerith machine with accessories and concerning changes in the lump sum to accommodate the machine and operators, with Admiralty letter CE6615/28 giving approval for these changes. The remaining letters concern payments to staff, details of staff employed and P.H. Corvello's report on the working of the Nautical Almanac Office.

Miscellaneous correspondence with the Hydrographer and others on the appointment of H.W.P. Richards as an established assistant, 1936-1940. There is also a copy of the Astronomer Royal's report on the Nautical Almanac Office, 12 May 1936, and the Superintendent's response.
