Miscellaneous correspondence with the Admiralty and related papers:

Correspondence between J.R. Hind and the Admiralty, 1891-1878, including a letter from the Shipmasters' Society concerning the new 'Nautical Almanac', correspondence on salaries and Civil Service Certificates.

Papers concerning administrative matters, 1892-1899. The correspondents include A.M.W. Downing, the Admiralty, W.J. Harding, the Royal Astronomical Society, the Astronomer Royal, F. Nansen and the United States Naval Observatory. The subjects include civil servants holding directorships of companies, sick leave, overtime, modifications to the 'Nautical Almanac', information dissemination, and the appointments of W.A. Davies, T. Wright, J.H. Bell and W.J. Harding.

Miscellaneous correspondence with the Admiralty and the Hydrographer, 1911-1922, regarding staff matters, wartime duties, the transfer of staff, modifications of the 'Nautical Almanac', standards of time and other subjects.

Correspondence with the Secretary of the Admiralty on the exchange of data with foreign governments, 1912-1914.

Miscellaneous correspondence regarding votes, payments to staff and outside workers and other matters, 1912-1922,

Annual lists of payments from the lump sum for the years 1914-1915 and 1920-1921, compiled 1914-1922.
