Staff correspondence, 1971 - 1972
Scope and Contents
Correspondence between Sir Richard Woolley and E.M. Burbidge concerned mainly with travel and accommodation, 1971. There is also correspondence with senior staff of the Royal Greenwich Observatory, mostly A. Hunter and B. Pagel, 1971-1972, mainly regarding staff matters, such as appointments to short-term vacancies. These letters include correspondence on a letter which appeared in 'The Times' criticising the siting of the Isaac Newton Telescope at Herstmonceux. There is also a letter from A. Hunter to W.H. McCrea suggesting that he might write a history of the Royal Observatory (the book was eventually published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office in 1975).
