Correspondence and papers regarding meetings of the Panel on the Instrumentation of Large Optical Telescopes (P.I.L.O.T.) and the Large Telescope Users Panel:

A memorandum (PILOT-213), progress report No. 1, regarding the multi-channel spectrophotometer for the Anglo-Australian Telescope, 1972. Attached is PILOT-222, a broad outline of the design of the instrument, dated 19 May 1972.

A memorandum from D. McMullan on the construction and use of a Wampler Superscanner. Attached is a report by McMullan, dated 3 August 1972, on the possibility of constructing the instrument at the Royal Greenwich Observatory.

Correspondence and papers relating to a meeting of the P.I.L.O.T. on 21 November 1972. The correspondence starts with letters from J. Ring, Imperial College, to E.M. Burbidge in California suggesting her attendance at P.I.L.O.T. meetings, with a reply by G. Burbidge. It ends with a letter from E.M. Burbidge to J. Ring setting out when she would be able to attend P.I.L.O.T. meetings.

A letter from B.N. Watts of the Science Research Council, 1972, stating that a meeting of the P.I.L.O.T. arranged to take place at the R.G.O. would now be at State House, London.
