Scope and Contents

Personal correspondence of Sir Richard Woolley regarding invitations, awards, lectures, committees, dinners and other subjects. There is correspondence with magazines and publishers concerning books and articles; with tradesmen, banks and insurance companies; with various societies, universities, schools, observatories and other institutions; and with various individuals. The correspondents include Dr Atkinson; Professor Blaauw, Groningen; E.M. Burbidge; O.J. Eggen, Palomar; Dr Farrukh, Beirut; F. Hoyle; A. Hunter; Allhallows School; the Astronomical Institute, Ankara; the Astronomical Society of the Pacific; the Australian Academy of Science; the B.B.C.; the British Horological Society; 'Burke's Peerage'; the Clockmakers' Company; the Embassy of the United Arab Republic; and the 'Encyclopaedia Hebraica', Jerusalem.
