Correspondence of Robert Atkinson regarding lectures and talks, including the following items:
Correspondence with J.T. Kendall, Secretary of the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society and the High Master of Manchester Grammar School, with a copy of Atkinson's 1946 lecture to the Literary and Philosophical Society on 'Naked-Eye Astronomy'.
Letter and receipt from the B.B.C. concerning a script on Sir James Dean by Atkinson for broadcast on the B.B.C. European Service, 1946.
Correspondence with Mrs M. Goddard, National Savings Committee, 1947, regarding the possibility of someone from the Royal Observatory being interviewed for the 'Unusual Occupations' series to be broadcast on the B.B.C. Home Service, with a sample script from Mrs Goddard.
Correspondence of R. Atkinson with H.L. Penman, A.F.C. Pollard and W.K. Brasher regarding a meeting of the Institute of Physics with the Institute of Electrical Engineers on 30 January 1948, including abstracts from Pollard's talk and Atkinson's 'Some Advantages and Disadvantages of Kinematic Design', as well as a complete printed abstract of the four lectures discussing 'Practical Considerations in Instrument Design'.
