Correspondence with F.J. Hargreaves regarding large telescope designs, particularly mirror problems, and referring to Nairobi district as a suitable site for a large telescope, with a copy of a letter from H. Cole, Pilkington Brothers Ltd, on the production process of discs.
Letter from E.H. Linfoot, H.H. Wills Physical Laboratory, Bristol, referring to the construction of a f/1.5 parabolic mirror of 100 inches in diameter.
Letters from C.C. Inglis, Ministry of Supply Armaments Design Department, enclosing copies of a letter from E.J. Poitras, Consulting Engineer to J.M. Ford, concerning the 200-inch telescope project in California, with notes on the Mount Palomar Observatory published by the California Institute of Technology, 14 July 1947, and bibliographies relating to the project.
Memorandum by Atkinson titled 'A Combination Paraboloid Schmidt Reflector', with a hand-drawn diagram and notes dated 6 October 1947.
