Correspondence between the Astronomer Royal and the Royal Society on a variety of matters, including subscriptions and income tax; medal awards; the circulation of papers; expenditure on the Isaac Newton Telescope; the Royal Society's visit to Czechoslovakia; Mrs Royd's application to the Scientific Relief Fund; the protection of Herschel's house; exchange visits between scientists in the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom; the Royal Society and Nuffield Foundation Commonwealth bursaries scheme, with an application by W. Buscombe; Flamsteed's letters; applications to the Paul Instrument Fund; the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope being constructed at St Andrew's University; the 400th anniversary of the death of Copernicus; the Meteor Camera Project at Bristol University; the 'Magnetism of Ships' and other publications; the Shelton Clock; the gift to the Royal Society of correspondence of early astronomers, including Sir G.B. Airy; and notes on the preparation of scientific papers.
