Correspondence on the Kanzelhöhe Observatory, 1945 - 1950
Scope and Contents
The solar observatory at Kanzelhöhe in Carinthia, Austria, was built during the Second World War, and observing began in 1942. In 1946 R. Atkinson and H. Spencer Jones visited the observatory to arrange its general direction
Correspondence regarding the Kanzelhöhe Observatory, including correspondence with Dr G. Kuiper, Dr Behr, Dr K.O. Kiepenheuer, Dr A. Bruzek, Professor H. Benndorf and the Fraunhöfer Institut. The papers also include a note by R. Atkinson on certain technical applications of solar physics, 1947; notes by R. Atkinson on solar observations and radio propagation and a proposed interchange of data, 1947; correspondence concerning the dismissal of Professor K.J.N. Stumpff, head of the Astrophysical Observatory on the Kanzel, 1946; a report on the Astrophysical Observatory of the University of Graz (Kanzelhöhe) regarding equipment and observations, 1946; a report on current and proposed observations and research work at the Kanzelhöhe Observatory, 1946; and correspondence with M.N. Saunders regarding the Observatory, 1946, including a map of its position and two small photographs of the Observatory.
