Bessie asks when Barbara is thinking of leaving Algiers before she decides whether to visit. She asks if Dr Bodichon could write on women in Paris. ‘Mr Hastings and Emily Faithfull are printing away as a private speculation’ [the Victoria Press]. Sam [Blackwell] has ‘got rid of Miss S[haw]’: Bessie is still fond of him but his money affairs are still very uncertain and she would like to talk things over with Barbara.
