Holloway Brooch, 1911 - 2008
Scope and Contents
[The 'Holloway badge', designed by Sylvia Pankhurst, was presented to members of the Women's Social and Political Union [WSPU] after serving prison sentences and known as the 'Victoria Cross of the Union'. Its design is that of the portcullis symbol of the House of Commons with a broad arrow (the convict symbol) in purple, white and green enamel superimposed.] This badge was presented to Edith Clayton Pepper by the WSPU in 1911 after her imprisonment.
