Glass plate slides of botanical illustrations
Scope and Contents
Wooden box containing 12 glass plate slides, measuring 8cm x 8cm. The slides consist of photographs and illustrations of various plants, all produced by Newton & Co (makers), 3 Fleet Street, London. The slides include:
1) B/w photograph of Dwarf Snowbell, photographed from Nature by Somerville Hastings;
2) B/w photograph of the Marsh Orchid, photographed from Nature by Somerville Hastings;
3) B/w photograph of the Butterfly Orchid, photographed from Nature by Somerville Hastings;
4) B/w photograph of Aconite-leaved Crowfoot, photographed from Nature by Somerville Hastings;
5) Colour photograph [or possibly illustration?] of a meadow in bloom, with mountains in the background;
6) Colour illustration of flowers on a mountainside;
7) B/w illustration of Soldanella alpine L. and Leontopodium alpium Cass.
8) Colour illustration of an unidentified plant, possibly Camassia / wild hyacinth;
9) Colour illustration of an unidentified plant, possibly a type of white iris;
10) Colour illustration of an unidentified plant, possibly a type of Galanthus / snowdrop;
