Letters from Margaret Thomas to Virginia Woolf, 1929 - 1930
Scope and Contents
Transcripts made by Professor Daugherty [for her own research] of two letters in the Monks House Papers, University of Sussex.
1) Letter written as Secretary of the ODTAA Society to thank Woolf for sending a presentation copy of 'A Room of One's Own' and to tell her of the effect it has had on her (position of women at Cambridge, distinctions between the men's and women's colleges etc.), 28 October 1929;
2) Letter suggesting the idea of an Anthology of Cambridge Women's Poetry, to be published by the Hogarth Press, 25 May 1930. Margaret Bullard went on to write ‘A Perch in Paradise’ (London: Hamish Hamilton 1952) a parody of Cambridge academic life.
