'Budget' or 'round' letters, 1951 - 1997
Scope and Contents
Letters written (mainly photocopies) between a group of friends who came up to Girton in 1946. The group consisted of Kay Barker, Elizabeth Dixon (née Stone), Pat Elliott, Barbara Ellis, Audrey Furness, Nancy Leeson, Margaret Macleod, Lois Roberts, Mary Ruch (died 1975), Sheelagh Warren, Mavis Weitsel, Audrey Wood, although not all are represented because some did not keep letters.

Biographical / Historical
Elizabeth Dixon (Betty Edith Stone) came up to Girton in 1946. She read English and after a Diploma in Education in 1950 went on, first to teach and then to lecture in English. She and a group of her friends kept in touch with 'round letter'. In 1996, Betty Dixon was interviewed for the University and Life Experience Project. Following the interview, she gathered together as many of the surviving letters from her group as she could find.
