This brooch belonged to Margaret E Millar (later Campbell-Ferguson, Girton 1930). Margaret studied Natural Sciences and Moral Sciences and received a Blue for Hockey.
These brooches were worn on the ties of the Girton College hockey team from as early as the 1890s, as seen in photographs of the period: see also GCRF 6/1/1 for a brooch dating from 1892.
