E M Allen's suitcase
Scope and Contents
A black leather suitcase, with various labels pasted onto the outside. Tied to the handle is half a label giving E M Allen's name and a London address.
Biographical / Historical
Eleanor Margaret Allen (Staff 1895) was born in 1867. She was a student 1889-1893, and went on to become the Librarian and Registrar, Bursar and Vice-Mistress. She died in 1929 and is commemorated by the panelling in Hall.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
One buckle is detached (housed inside the suitcase), and there is a hole in the bottom left back corner. The leather used to edge the suitcase has red rot.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The suitcase had been used to house silver in the silver safe. It was transferred to the Archive by Peter Sparks, August 2014.
