1) Helen Baxter (née Scholfield, Girton 1941-1943);
2) Margaret Braddock (née Weale, Girton 1943-1946);
3) Monica Cundall (née Pritchard, Girton 1942-1945);
4) Eira Eadie (née Sallis, Girton 1943-1946);
5) Joy Fox (née Hollings, Girton 1939-1942);
6) Pamela Hawker (née Gregory, Girton 1941-1944);
7) Daphne Larrissy (née Pickard, Girton 1939-1942);
8) Margaret Phillips (née Pope, Girton 1941-1942, 1945-1947);
9) Jocelyn Rawlence (née Finch, Girton 1940-1943);
10) Mavis von Proschwitz (née Genge, Girton 1941-1944);
11) Veronica Sankaran (née Tillyard, Girton 1941-1944);
12) Cynthia Shipway (née Preston, Girton 1938-1941).
There are memories of rationing (fuel, clothes and food) and the various strategies employed to keep warm and to find clothes for coming up to Girton. Two reminiscences about food are of a French refugee working on College land requesting students to tread silage for cattle cake and of Dutch Brown Beans which were rich in protein and particular to Girton College. In addition, there are descriptions of lectures, College rules, entertainments and war work (fire watching, Red Cross, Cambridge Fruiting Campaign etc).
Pamela Hawker's account is part of a 'Life Story' she was in the process of compiling and is particularly full, covering all her Girton years.
