Scope and Contents
'Letters': the magazine of the Royal Society of Literature, No. 1 Autumn 1992. Pages 9-11 comprise an article by P D James entitled ‘The Art in Murder’, in which she argues that the crime novel, as distinct from the detective story, can be properly regarded as literature. Together with a typescript of the article headed ‘The Detective Story - Can it be Literature?’. The first page of the typescript bears a handwritten note reading ‘RSL Magazine - 31/3/92’.
