Two versions of CP's autobiography, both are typescript. They differ slightly from the original at GCPP 4/1/1 in that they include a foreword by Jaqueline Tyrwhitt and a preface by CP. Also the biography of CP's sister is omitted. One of the typescripts carries a note from CP, 'Re-typed by Helen Oates. Almost entirely horticultural, Joan left out. Suggest better title "With a Spade in My Hand"'. The first typescript is 12 chapters, 222 pages; the second (typed by Helen Oates) is a slightly smaller typeface and runs to 182 pages. This version also carries manuscript corrections.
