Scope and Contents
Shoenberg: Catherine (Kate) Shoenberg became, in 1955, a member of Dorothy Needham’s research team working on ‘biochemistry of the uterus’. Most of the material listed here relates to D N’s subsequent efforts before her retirement to find appropriate facilities and funding for Shoenberg’s work on contractile mechanism of vertebrate smooth muscle. 10 files as follows:

2) Correspondence 1960 re laboratory accommodation;
3) Correspondence 1961, 1962 March-May;
4) Correspondence 1962 June-July. Includes typescript draft ‘Pseudopia in vertebrate smooth muscle cells’ by Catherine Shoenberg;

7) Correspondence 1967, 1969, also C S’s 1967 account of her work with D N;
8) Correspondence 1970, 1972, chiefly re grant applications, including ‘Report’ of planned investigation into the sliding filament mechanism in vertebrate smooth muscle;
9) Correspondence 1973-74, including 1973 correspondence re grant applications;
