Scope and Contents
Contents of envelope inscribed thus by Dorothy Needham: mostly material from China 1943-1945. [In early 1944, D N joined her husband Joseph Needham in China where he was head of the Sino-British Science Cooperation Office (SBSCO), an organisation responsible for supplying Chinese research and teaching institutions with scientific, technical and medical support.] 3 files as follows:
1) Manuscript notes of telegrams re D N’s going to China, September 1943; manuscript notes on shrubs and other plants; note of inscription on D N’s personal seal;
2) Pocket notebook used for notes on visits to Chinese research institutions, contacts made in China etc;
3) 2pp typescript account of the work of the Sino-British Cooperation Office; pass for D N’s return home; UN identity card for use in France; manuscript notes on international relations.
