'David Craig', 1955 - 1963
Scope and Contents
Thirteen letters from Q D Leavis to David Craig, mostly about his PhD research in Scottish literature. There is also mention of his poetry. The letters offer encouragement, advice and ideas as well as detailed suggestions as to reading. Later letters are about publication of Craig's thesis. Although the letters are about academic concerns they contain glimpses of the Leavises' everyday life through Q D Leavis' allusions to domestic matters. She also outlines what is entailed in being the wife of an intellectual (23 November 1955). The letters are a mix of manuscript and typescript.
