Scope and Contents
Correspondence with Jack Emery, television producer, concerning an invitation to P D James to come on the set of ‘Breaking the Code’, a play for BBC 1, 1995; also correspondence with Jack Emery and with Carol Heaton [PDJ’s literary agent] and others concerning PDJ’s outline for ‘Broughton Park’, an ‘Edwardian saga idea’ for a television series, 1995-96. The file includes a preliminary submission (this is headed ‘Belcombe Park’ [no date] and describes the idea as ‘more than a rural ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ although it should have the same attraction of contrast, history and nostalgia’); also invitation to a private screening of ‘Witness against Hitler’, written and produced by Jack Emery at the Princess Anne Theatre, W1, 1996.
