Scope and Contents
The first letter is written from London, 27 Feb. 1955, while staying with friends. The next letters date from the Easter Term in Cambridge, April-June 1955, during which RB was undertaking reading etc in order to prepare for her studies at Girton College. The remaining letters in the file date from October 1955 to March 1956, ie RB's first two full terms at Girton. She comments on Girton customs, rules and regulations; on Girton people including Alison Duke, Jean Lindsay, M G Jones, Mrs Chibnall; on dress codes and social events; on lectures attended; on the inaugural Women's Union debate; on meetings at Emmanuel Congregational Church and elsewhere; temperance; swimming; College events; and her growing relationship with 'Nibs' and the Bunker family in Ditchling, Sussex.
