Poems and plays, 1911 - 1914
Scope and Contents
Hardback notebook containing manuscript poems and notes etc for plays.
The flyleaf is inscribed ‘Gladys Skelton 1911’, also ‘John Presland’. Pasted onto the page facing the flyleaf is a photograph of a small boy in a toy car [probably one of Gladys Skelton’s two sons?].
The poems include one entitled ‘J. (?) F.W’ [to Gladys Skelton’s father, John Frederick Williams?], approximately two thirds of the way through the volume (the volume is not paginated): no date found but probably circa 1913.
The plays for which the volume contains notes include Marcus Aurelius, Luther and Byzantium.
Most of the poems are untitled, but those with titles include A Sundial in a Garden; Via Dolorosa; Temptation; Newbolt; To D - ; A Present for Luther; and Sophocles' Antigone.
