Scope and Contents
Volume 3 of the diaries. Entries relating to Girton and Cambridge begin in October 1878, the entry for 12 October 1878 reading 'Girton College has not a very learned look from the outside - - - the red of the bricks has not had time to mellow down'. In addition to the general details described above she mentions meetings of the ‘Mending Society’; she takes part in a performance of ‘Alice’ in December 1878, looking ‘queer in my short dress and unconfined tresses!!’; she gives an account of celebrations for ‘Our Wrangler’ [Charlotte Angas Scott], 3 and 28 February 1880; and she describes a rowdy public meeting at the Guildhall on the ‘Local Option’ [a proposal relating to the blocking of liquor licences for public houses], 2 March 1880.
