Scope and Contents
[‘The award carries the name of Baroness Platt of Writtle in recognition of her contribution to ITD [Institute of Training and Development] during her period as President 1985 to 1987 and has regard for her special interest in the creation of equal opportunities and the office she held as Chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission.']
The file contains the following: an article for Charles Barker Magazine by Beryl Platt and MG(?), 12 December 1984, concerning the WISE [Women into Science and Engineering] 1984 campaign; a speech by B P given at the 1988 award ceremony; list of entries and entry forms for the 1990 award; articles relating to the award, 1987-1989; handwritten prompt cards, no date; ‘CBI and Industrial Society: Code of Practice’ - notes for a speech given by B P, September 1985; and ‘Training & Development’, the Journal of the Institute of Training and Development, with large colour photograph of B P on the front cover and an interview with B P as incoming President of the ITD on pages 21-22.
