Includes: letters addressed to Cadgwith, Ruan Minor, Cornwall, January 1895, including 1 January 1895 from ‘Crompton’ to ‘Dearest Maggie’ - ‘I write to save Mother from slaving away with cold fingers - - ‘, 3 January, 4 and 5 January - ‘I have just had my Candidates - nice little girls - - Tomorrow I begin the Sunday Class again - - ‘; 8 January enclosing a note from ‘Agnes’, 15 January together with another letter, 18 [January?] - ‘I was disappointed to hear you still had dreamy nights - - Is it worse or better at curse time?’ - ‘I am sometimes very bad to be away from you - & to think of you going off to that far away place all alone.’, 20 January, 25 January - ‘Don’t grow into a female W.H.! I can’t bear you to like solitude so much.’, 27 January, together with ‘Mon. evg’ [28 January 1895?]; also K.L. Tues [January 1895?] and p. 3 only of an undated letter, possibly January 1895; 1 February 1895 to Ruan Minor - ‘If you come up to Hind Head we may, joy! manage a meeting in April’; 3 February 1895 to Ruan Minor; 6 February 1895, addressed to Ruan Minor and redirected to Kirkby Lonsdale - pencilled on the envelope are the words ‘The very last’, together with 3 telegraphs from John Llewelyn Davies to Margaret sent in the space of three hours on 7 February as follows: 1) ‘Prepare to come here. Urgent. Another telegraph shortly’ 2) ‘Your Mother will not recognise you’ 3) ‘Your Mother left us suddenly whilst dressing’.
