Proceedings of a literacy seminar held by the Society of Women Writers and Journalists in its centenary year, 1994. Edited by Joyce M Morris. The seminar focused on what is being done and what should be done to raise literacy standards and eradicate illiteracy. Published by the Society of Women Writers and Journalists, 1995. The preface, written by Elizabeth Longford, Hon. Life President, includes details of the Society’s aims and history. Pages 35-41 contain the text of a speech delivered by P D James at the seminar, entitled ‘Literacy and the Professional Writer’, with a small black and white photograph of PDJ.
