German vocabulary book, 1960
Scope and Contents
14 pages only, but includes lengthy definitions of various words with quotes and examples of usage in German. [The front of the volume quotes Aaron Copland from p 165 of The New Music 1900-1960: 'An elderly wise woman once gave me some excellent advice. It is very important, as you get older, to engage in an activity that you didn't engage in when you were young, so that you are not continually in competition with yourself as a young man' - Alethea said in her letters from Bonn in 1929 that she couldn't be bothered to learn German, but appears to have taken on some study of German in later life, perhaps with this quote in mind.]
