Autobiography of Desiderius Furst, father of Lilian Furst. 156pp typescript with ms amendments. Begins with his birth in Hungary in 1900. Describes his training as a dental surgeon. Describes life for nine months in Nazi-occupied Vienna before escaping, through Germany, to Brussels and then to England, where he spent some time in Bedford and was also interned on the Isle of Man, before settling in Manchester. The chronology of events finishes more or less at the end of the Second World War. The last section, entitled ‘Looking Back’, from p.133, revolves very much around D F’s work as a dentist in England and Vienna. The file includes a sheet of paper headed ‘D. Furst, Dental Surgeon, 60 King Street, Manchester 2’.
