Letters to Odette de Mourgues signed variously ‘T’, ‘Monique’ and H[enri] F[luchère]., 1947 - 1951
Scope and Contents
The connections between the three (if any) are uncertain but the letters were found together and have been listed together.
Some of the letters are on paper headed ‘Maison Française’, successively at 28 Beaumont Street, Oxford and 72 Woodstock Road, Oxford [a French research centre in the humanities and social sciences, established 1946]; some are headed LMH [Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford - Monique appears to have studied Anglo-Saxon and English at LMH]; and some of Henri Fluchère’s letters are addressed from 438 rue Paradis, Marseille.
They are broadly of a personal nature, with some discussion of literature, chiefly French, and life at LMH.
