Minutes of the Committee for Admission of Women to University Examinations, 1862 - 1869
Scope and Contents
The minute book is in Emily Davies’ hand. It reproduces a letter from Charles Gray, secretary of the [Cambridge Local Examinations] Syndicate, September or October 1863, agreeing to have extra copies of papers printed; cites or summarises many other letters; and includes statements of accounts for the years ending 5 August 1865, 1866 and 1867. There are several references to Bedford College and to the University of London's special examination for women over 18.
From the minute for 3 April 1867: 'A proposal to found a College for women, with a view to preparing candidates for the examinations of the University of Cambridge, having been laid before the Committee, it was resolved that the project be not undertaken by this Committee'.
