Letter from S E [Emily] Davies to [Robert] Potts, 1863-06-10
Scope and Contents
ED's proposal was received by the Oxford Delegacy [for Local Examinations] with no objections. The statute will need to be modified to allow the admittance of girls [to Local Examinations], and a memorial will be presented asking for this on the imminent expiry of the statute. ED wishes to enter girls for an informal Cambridge examination and Mr [Henry] Tomkinson has asked the [Local Examinations] Syndicate for permission to print extra papers and to make an arrangement with the examiners; ED asks RP to work for a favourable reply. Memorials from local centres have been advised by Oxford and would doubtless be useful at Cambridge.
