From pictures and / or sketchbooks held in various collections by him and elsewhere, including Girton College, Hastings Museum, the Barber collection, Norman Moore, Medora Elstob (now at Girton), G M Goddard collection, Fogg Museum Harvard, Yale Center for British Art, and the Lakes Sketchbook held by Dove Cottage, Grasmere. The images are held in various media, including 35mm transparencies, medium format transparencies, colour and black and white prints, and colour and black and white negatives. It would appear that John Crabbe made two illustrated master lists, one to offer to publishers, the other - ‘Photo-prints of paintings and sketches’ - possibly for sale or his own record, as well as manuscript lists of the slides, colour transparencies, black and white negatives and black and white prints. There is also a list of colour prints but we do not appear to have all the images on this. The transparencies and negatives are either numbered or lettered. The two volumes of 'Photo-prints of paintings and sketches' offer a key to the numbers and letters. The box contains the following files:
