Rigid covers, 27cm x 37cm, 16 leaves. 'Scalands Gate, Robertsbridge, Hawkshurst' stamp on inside of front cover. Contains 21 mixed pencil, ink and watercolour sketches, mostly unfinished, but including drawings of Algiers harbour and of mixed architecture in Segovia [the latter is reproduced in Pam Hirsch, 'Barbara Leigh Smith Bodichon: Feminist, Artist and Rebel, 1998'].

Immediate Source of Acquisition
This volume was part of the collection of John Crabbe and was bequeathed to Girton by him. He died on 9 December 2008 and the volume was transferred to Girton by his daughter Naomi in April 2009.
