Manuscript transcript of a letter from Barbara Bodichon to George Eliot, 1856-11-21 - 1856-12-08
Scope and Contents
21.11-- I have a horror of writing to you because you know all about composition. Little beasts that live by the sea (rough sketches). Describes the climate and landscape: no one ought to go South without a dearly beloved of some sort or other. 8.12-- The place intoxicates me! I speak French, they say, like a child of four. A comment BB made in society about belonging to a set of women who never wear low dresses. Distressed by the idea of a girl of 11 being married.
