Letter from Marianne F Bernard to Barbara Bodichon, 1881-10-16
Scope and Contents
Antiquarian discoveries; a stone head in the rubbish pit; a piece of stone with foliage in high relief; a lion without a nose. Remains of 3 adults and 5 children; we are sure they are Anglo Saxon. We believe we have now dug up all the cemetery. An aberrant piece in D Mollerton's [?] collection; anxious to get hold of it. Has tables for some of the pieces, but not sure how best to show off the lion's head.
