Letter from Emily Davies to Barbara Bodichon, 1883-01-14
Scope and Contents
BB's objection to Miss [E E Constance] Jones's use of the word "originator"; ED suggests that it doesn't matter that much because only a passing mention of the portraits. BB's suggestion that the beginning of the College dates from ED's visit to BB in August 1867; ED explains that the idea suggested itself to her on 6 October 1866 after a meeting of schoolmistresses in Manchester and describes her preliminary steps while BB was abroad. Anonymous gift of £100 prompted by article in Spectator; this month the best time for asking for money. BB might like to see handbill for Democratic Federation.
