Letter from Emily Davies to Barbara Bodichon, 1874-06-12
Scope and Contents
Miss Wallis' health. General health at College. Discussions with Miss [Louisa] Lumsden. Hopes that one day she may be Mistress. Development of College Society. Appointment of Mistress. Committee & Mistress must work together. Mistress should be at College and not have home ties (one reason for ED wishing to give up). Secretary also should be resident. Could scarcely work for me to reside with someone else as Mistress carrying on with ideas different from mine. Committee Monday - nothing very important. [Draft or copy with note by ED dated November 1904 that the letter was a reply to a letter or talk about students' health not being sufficiently looked after]. Long letter of 23 pages.
