Letter from Emily Davies to Barbara Bodichon, 1870-11-08
Scope and Contents
Committee agreed on Saturday upon application to Cambridge for the papers and have asked Professor Lightfoot to take charge of it. Examinations to be held in Cambridge as more convenient than Hitchin. Important not to lose time in getting site, not less than three miles from Cambridge, and preparing plans. Mrs [Annie Crow] Austin much liked. Shall stay in town over 29th, School Board election day. Am put down as head of Marylebone parish under Miss Garrett's Committee so I am expected to organize a personal canvas of 16,000 electors (55,000 in whole division) during next 3 weeks. Have been asked to stand for the City & write address. Am waiting to see if there is enough of a chance before taking any public step. About 12 candidates already in the field. Mr Tidman (a member of John Lubbock's Committee) came to me.
